The Road to UEFA Euro 2024 for Slovakia
The journey of Slovakia to UEFA Euro 2024 showcases the team’s resilience and determination. They kicked off their qualifying campaign with a strong 2-0 victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina on March 26, 2023, marking a powerful start.
The fighting spirit continued as Pavel Hapal’s men secured consecutive wins against Iceland (2-1) and Liechtenstein (1-0). This explosive start helped them secure a strong position in Group J of the qualifiers.
On November 16, 2023, the Slovakian national team asserted their strength in the qualifiers with a 4-2 victory over Iceland in Bratislava – thanks to Lukas Haraslin’s outstanding performance with two goals.
This victory marked Slovakia’s qualification for Euro 2024, ensuring their third consecutive appearance in the finals, alongside giants like the host nation Germany, Austria, Belgium, England, France, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Turkey.
Notably, Slovakia finished second in qualifying Group J, with 22 points from 10 matches. They won 7, drew 1, and suffered only 2 defeats against a formidable Portugal.
